The Embassy of Guatemala in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland shares the publication of the newspaper “The Independent”, in which it makes a selection of the best 10 Fairtrade coffees in the United Kingdom, highlighting Guatemalan coffee.

The selection includes a Fraijanes coffee, under the brand name “Jewel & Kong”, from a Guatemalan businesswoman living in the UK. Although they do not have Fairtrade certification, they highlight their contribution to the community, sustainability, and flavour. The media describes the Fraijanes region of Guatemala as one of the best regions in the world for growing coffee, thanks to its rich volcanic soil. In relation to coffee, he describes it as velvety and has hints of chocolate and caramel praline, perfect to complete a special meal at home.

The publication takes place at an annual event within the framework of the “Fairtrade Fortnight” campaign, a campaign organized and funded by the Fairtrade Foundation to increase awareness of “Fairtrade” products. Fairtrade certification ensures that farmers receive a fair price for their coffee, that employees are paid fair wages, and that working conditions are fair and equitable for all staff. In short, it is the easiest way to ensure that the coffee you drink does not harm anyone at any stage of the production and distribution chain.
