Tourism in Guatemala

Tourism is one of the most important activities in Guatemala. On economic terms, the tourism sector direct contribution to the GDP is 3% and the total contribution (direct and indirect) is 8.8%.

Guatemala is a country with enormous natural and cultural heritage. The country is the centre of Maya’s world but also offers an extraordinary colonial and modern heritage. Distances are short, which allows tourists to visit several regions in one visit. The country not only offers historical attractions it also has huge natural diversity, excellent to anyone looking for adventures.

British tourists have become the main European group that visits the country. In 2017, 15,133 British nationals visit Guatemala and 16,109 in 2018. Sacatepéquez, Sololá, Petén, Guatemala City and Alta Verapaz are their main destinations.
