The Embassy

The main function of our Embassy is the representation of Guatemala in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland whilst protecting the interests of our country and its citizens, keep communication channels open between both governments, and focuses on promoting tourism, trade, investment, cultural exchange and cooperation between the United Kingdom and Guatemala.

We strive to strengthen friendship ties and cooperation between both countries and follow up on the matters that are of interest to both our countries.

Our Consular section is here to provide services and assistance to Guatemalan nationals in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and to provide foreign nationals with information and services about visa requirements to visit Guatemala.

Mission

To formulate policies and apply the legal regime to the relations of Guatemala with other States and persons or legal bodies of international law (International Maritime Organisation, International Sugar Organisation and the African Union), diplomatically represent the State of Guatemala in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, concurrent in Ireland, countries of Sub-Saharan Africa and the Arabic Gulf; coordinate diplomatic and consular matters, everything related to Guatemalan nationality, the demarcation of the national territory and international treaties and conventions.

Vision

To direct and coordinate all national actors in the development of a policy of foreign relations of the State of Guatemala, respectful of international law, that contributes to the maintenance of peace and freedom, respect and defense of human rights, strengthening democratic processes and international institutions to ensure mutual and equitable benefit between States in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, concurrent in Ireland, sub-Saharan African and Arabic Gulf countries.

Ambassador: Acisclo Valladares Molina

Acisclo Valladares Molina

HE Ambassador Valladares-Molina began duties as Ambassador of Guatemala to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on January the 5th, 2010.

He is also Concurrent Ambassador of Guatemala to Ireland, Subsaharian and Arabic Gulf countries. Ambassador Valladares Molina is Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the African Union, the International Maritime Organisation and the International Sugar Organisation; Permanent Representative of Guatemala, as Observer, to the International Cocoa Organisation and to the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds.

Before becoming Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland he has been: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Guatemala to the Holy See, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and the Hellenic Republic, Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the United Nations Organizations in Rome, Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nation (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Guatemala’s Attorney General 1991-1992 and Solicitor General 1994-1998, Regional Coordinator of the Group of 77, Counsel and Senior Consultant of the Permanent Instance of Solicitors Generals and Attorneys General of Central America and Panama, Chairman of the Standing Superior Attorney-General, Politics: Candidate for Mayor of Guatemala City, 29% of the vote. Twice a candidate for President of the Republic, 5.21% of the votes, 3.70%, Progressive Liberator Party, Principal Agent of the State of Guatemala to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
